Ysios Blanco represents our expression of old Viura vines growing at the highest part of some vineyards, known as ’Cabezadas’. Here, the original mixed plantings feature a field blend of Viura and Tempranillo, benefiting from less fertile, shallow soils.
Vintage
September 7 – 9
The 2022 vintage was defined by low rainfall and drought, as well as good weather conditions during the harvest period. Consequently, the grapes reached excellent quality and health. The harvest took place between September 7th and 9th.
The blend is sourced from the ’Cabezada’, that includes several blocks cultivated in Rioja Alavesa, located between Laguardia, Elvillar, and Páganos.
The harvest is manual, in small 10 kg. crates. Upon arrival at the winery, there is a cold maceration for 12 hours. The free-run juice and the first pressing, done at low pressure, ferment in different formats, which will later be blended to create the final blend: a portion in 500-liter French oak barrels, another part in tanks, a third portion in a concrete egg, and finally, a small quantity undergoes skin fermentation for 20 days in a clay amphora. After fermentation, the wine ages for 9 months on its fine lees.

Bright straw yellow.
Nose
Intensely fragrant, it showcases the more floral and delicate side of the old Viura vines from Rioja Alavesa. Floral notes of acacia are intertwined with hints of green fruit (apple, pear), and citrus (orange peel and mandarin). Subtle toasty notes from oak and lees ageing are seamlessly integrated with the fruit. A perfectly integrated aromatic complexity.
Mouth
Lively and vibrant on the palate, it offers pleasant texture and complexity. White flower, apple, pineapple and orange peel flavours, with hints of minerality and toast. It is a highly complex and elegant wine, with a long, creamy, enveloping finish and great freshness.
